The Master & Margarita, 2015
installation, variable dimensions.
I can never read a book for the first time again, the book and I are no longer the same. This work takes the reading of a book and transforms it into an object that represents the knowledge that is experienced, but no longer accessible.
As the book is read it the pages of each chapter are torn out and reformed. The book is consumed both philosophically and physically. The tubular sections become an evolving sculptural form, growing and shifting chapter by chapter as the reading progresses.
The book becomes drawn; as wire is, as conclusions are, as a line on a journey.
